It’s a new year and here come the new year resolutions. Feels like a long list of “I wish”. Many get reminded of last year’s resolutions. It feels like yesterday. What happened to those wishes? Why am I on the Hamster Spinning Wheel again, you might ask. How do I make THIS TIME DIFFERENT?
Why this keeps happening?
The problem lies in your wishes. They Are Wishes and NOT GOALS. That is why you get stuck on a wheel going around and around without any way to get off. This happens to a lot of people. In some ways that’s life. But it doesn’t have to be……. Not this time. What can you do differently?
Firstly, you don’t need another sunrise to start, you could start now, however if the sunrise is going to motivate you, so be it.
Where do I start?
Start by changing your wishes to goals. How? Let’s use the STOP, START, CONTINUE approach.
STOP: What Things have you been doing that are not aligned and not supporting your ideal life? Think deep about this. Identifying all those habits is key. Now ask yourself, what are the consequences of doing those things and how they are preventing you from reaching your full potential. Time TO CRUSH THEM.
START: What new habits and things you like to start. Some of those could replace the habits you are stopping. Eating healthier as an example or learning new skills to improve your career. Whatever it is, make sure they are supporting the ideal life you are after. Visualize yourself doing them and visualize the effect they have on your life. Time to START NEW HABITS.
CONTINUE: Finally, look at the good things you have been doing and be determined they continue. Don’t allow Busyness from overwhelming you and shift your priorities. As an example, if you have been exercising, great! Continue and don’t let the new habits stop it.
